"I Thought My Faith Belonged in Church—Not at Work."

“I never thought God cared much about my work.”

That was the realization David shared as he reflected on the journey God had taken him on over the past few months.

Like many Christians, David had always separated his faith from his career. Sundays belonged to God, but Monday through Friday belonged to the workplace. His job was simply a way to earn a living, build a career, and provide for the future. He never imagined that his work could also be a place where God wanted to shape him and use him.

Everything began to change when David joined our Resilience in the Workplace Program.

During sessions on the theology of work and the purpose of vocation, he encountered a biblical perspective that challenged the way he had viewed his career for years. He began asking questions he had never asked before:

What if work is more than a paycheck?

What if my workplace is part of God's calling for my life?

What does it mean to follow Christ—not only in church, but in every meeting, every conversation, and every decision I make at work?

Those questions led David into a season of prayer and honest reflection. As God worked in his heart, he realized that his greatest need was not simply a different job—it was a renewed understanding of his purpose.

Not long after completing the program, David made the difficult decision to step away from his position, trusting that God was leading him into a new season. While the future was uncertain, he chose to place his confidence not in a career path, but in the One who had called him.

His journey did not end there.

Today, we continue walking alongside David through mentoring, prayer, and encouragement as he seeks God's direction for the next chapter of his life. We have seen him grow in confidence, deepen his trust in the Lord, and embrace the truth that work is not separate from faith—it is one of the places where faith is lived out every day.

God first reshapes the heart, renews our perspective, and invites us to see our daily work as an opportunity to worship Him and serve others.

This is why we do what we do.

Through every training, mentoring relationship, and conversation, our prayer is not only that people would become better professionals, but that they would discover God's purpose for their work and faithfully live out their calling wherever He places them.

Because when our understanding of work changes, our lives begin to change as well.
